Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, has told Manchester United players to ignore instructions from manager Jose Mourinho and take matters into their own hands.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils travel to Anfield on Sunday to take on title-chasing Liverpool, 16 points behind their bitter rivals.<\/p>\n

A much-changed United side slipped to another demoralising defeat against Valencia in midweek and Keown believes Mourinho\u2019s men are turning in the worst performances he has seen in 25 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese performances are some of the worst we\u2019ve seen from United in 25 years,\u201d Keown told Football Focus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are there for the taking \u2013 these United players almost need to stop listening to their manager now.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this is how they\u2019re being told to play, the players are on their own \u2013 I don\u2019t know the identity of this United team.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re almost dreading games. Whether they change the manager is another thing but every game feels like a crisis now.<\/p>\n

\u201cMourinho has an incredible job there but the \u2018special one\u2019 has become the \u2018lonely one\u2019.<\/p>\n
