Some Nigerians mocked the minister, recalling a statement by Fashola in 2014 where he was quoted saying “A serious Government will fix the power problem in six months”.

Here are some reactions gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:

@Yemifash “For those who may have difficulties understanding this report let me break it down for you: Fashola the minister for power said it is your problem if you don’t have electricity in your house and not FG or Buhari’s problem if you can not afford micano generators, go and die.”

@Dondekojo “According to Fashola (that initially blamed PDP for this and claimed he’d do better immediately), he’s only a regulator and it’s not the regulator’s job to improve the business environment to ensure productivity. These are your heroes.”

@D_problemsolver “These ones will just open mouth and be yarning rubbish. Fashola was given the opportunity to fix the mess the past admin got us into. NO, he won’t fix it, he’ll rather push blames. Bunch of incompetent leaders.”

@Areogunboy “Oh Aso Rock! What have you turned Fashola into!? Is this Lagos Fashola or Jubril of Sudan?

@Bolanle_Cole “It’s not FG’s problem if Nigerians lack electricity – Fashola 2018. A serious Government will fix the power problem in six months”- Babatunde Raji Fashola said in 12/11/2014 . This is simply an unserious government.

@Adonaido “He was loquacious as his principal. Promising much, “change”, delivering nothing 3 yrs on. Now he wants you and me to take the blame for his failures. Meanwhile, we have it on good authority, Prof. Osinbajo and his cronies have bought into Lagos Power projects. Change indeed.

@Lawrenceomini “What a shame! How irresponsible Fashola can be… I guess he doesn’t have integrity and moral character.”

@JoelAgho “Denials and blame games are the two feet upon which this gov. Walk and work. Knowing this means that the burden of proof for what the minister said is not mine to unravel.”

@Mfran6is “Fashola flat out told Nigerians that lack of electricity is not FG’s problem. It is worthy to note that this is coming after he lied that he did not say electricity will problem will be fixed within six months. Let’s not forget he is the minister of housing, works and power. ”

@Wagbemiga “I think HE, Gov. @tundefashola is high on drugs, codeine et al. How on earth can he open his to yarn this nonsense. Wasn’t the same Tunde Fashola who said: Any govt that can’t provide electricity in 6 mths should be sacked? At times, I feel worse being a Nigerian.”

@xcluda1 “A man that once said any responsible govt will fix electricity problem in 6months! We can’t survive another 4years of APC lies! Vote them out.”

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has come under attack over a statement that the federal government is not responsible for non-availability of electricity to Nigerians.
