It was learnt that the assailants shut indiscriminately at his vehicle while returning to Jalingo from a function in his village, with two of his relatives.<\/p>\n
Mr. Job Vau, the younger brother to the Chairman who broke the news to newsmen said, \u201cI left him yesterday (Sunday) in the village while I returned to Jalingo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis morning on his way from the village he came under attack between Garin Dogo and Garin Mallam Village.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was driving himself in a Hilux van with two of our sisters. The bullet pierced his arm and he was rushed to the hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is responding to treatment according to doctors and we thank God that he is alive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP David Misal, confirming the attack to newsmen in Jalingo said the NUT Chairman has been taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Jalingo for treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe received a distress call that the NUT Chairman, Julius Peter, while on his way from Lau to Jalingo came under attack by three unidentified gunmen who opened fire on his vehicle.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe sustained bullet injury in his arm and he is currently receiving treatment at the state specialist hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were able to recover the vehicle and investigation into the attack has commenced and we will bring the perpetrators to book,\u201d he said.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
