{"id":65193,"date":"2018-11-28T16:33:38","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T15:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=65193"},"modified":"2018-11-28T16:33:58","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T15:33:58","slug":"plateau-lg-workers-second-least-paid-in-nigeria-despite-having-lowest-staff-strength-nulge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=65193","title":{"rendered":"Plateau LG workers second least paid in Nigeria despite having lowest staff strength &#8211; NULGE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Plateau-LG-workers-second-least-paid-in-Nigeria-despite-having-lowest-staff-strength-NULGE.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">National President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ibrahim Khalid, said despite having the lowest staff strength in terms of LGA workers, Local Government workers in Plateau State are the least paid workers in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that the state is only behind Zamfara State as the second least paid.<\/p>\n<p>Khalid stated this during the union\u2019s 40th anniversary celebration in Jos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt may surprise you all to hear this statistics shows that Plateau State Local Government workers are receiving the least salary among other councils in Nigeria despite having low staff strength among the 36 states of the federation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI therefore, call on Governor Simon Lalong to as a matter of urgency increase the salary of Local Government workers for better productivity,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hereby commend the cordial relationship between the state government and NULGE in the state, but as Oliver Twist, we are still pleading for improved condition of service by calling on the government to restructure the three tiers of government to add value to the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the National Auditor of NULGE, Comrade Shamdung Ayuba Jembla, he said, \u201cForty years down the line, we all celebrate today, to remind ourselves that this exercise was a child born out of our collective desire to transform the 3rd tier of government across the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe give thanks to Almighty God for nurturing and bringing NULGE this far as a united union.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khalid lamented that 40 years down the line, the conditions of civil servants is nothing to write home about, as many are languishing in abject poverty.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Ibrahim Khalid, said despite having the lowest staff strength in terms of LGA workers, Local Government workers in Plateau State are the least paid workers in the country.
