<\/p>\nHe noted that the party\u2019s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar was the clear favourite to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the party would take advantage of the poor performance of the current administration.<\/p>\n
Ortom spoke on Monday in Makurdi, during an expanded caucus meeting of the party.<\/p>\n
The governor also said Buhari\u2019s top loyalists were hurting his chances by the \u201cunguarded statements that had become their trademarks\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the President\u2019s key men speak carelessly and make it difficult for the society to trust the APC,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n
He insisted that Atiku was capable of taking the country out of its current challenges, and urged Nigerians to vote him into power.<\/p>\n
Ortom advised security agencies to arrest anyone found with illegal arms, and promised to assist them to mop up all illegal arms in Benue.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the party in the state, John Ngbede, urged aspirants that lost the primary elections to work with those that emerged, so as to ensure victory.<\/p>\n
