The Police Command in Ebonyi State on Thursday arrested a witch doctor identified as Samuel Nwafor, and one Mr Ejike Nkwegu for allegedly killing a 32-year-old woman identified as Mrs Juliet Nkwegu.<\/p>\n

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Loveth Odah, confirmed the arrest to newsmen at the command\u2019s headquarters in Abakaliki.<\/p>\n

Odah stated that Ejike Nkwegu, husband of the deceased, had conspired with the native doctor and allegedly killed the deceased.<\/p>\n

She said the incident took place at Nkalaha, Onuebonyi Echera, in Ikwo local government area of the state.<\/p>\n

The PPRO also said that initial investigation revealed that the husband of the deceased took his wife to Nwafor, the native doctor, when he suspected the late wife of having a hand in the theft of his motorcycle.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cThe Divisional Police Headquarters in Ikwo reported a case of murder which took place at a community in Ikwo.<\/p>\n

\u201cA man accused his wife of complicity in the loss of his motorcycle and forcefully took her to a native doctor who will use \u2018magical\u2019 means to unravel the wife\u2019s involvement in the stolen motorcycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they got to the native doctor\u2019s house, the Voodoo priest didn\u2019t use the magic mirror but rather prepared a concoction for the woman to drink.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe explained to them that after drinking the said concoction, she would confess.<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly, after taking the mixture, she could not confess but rather started having stomach upset, vomiting and subsequently died at the native doctor\u2019s shrine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Odah added that the sudden death drew the attention of members of the community, who alerted the police and quickly mobilised to the scene, evacuated the body to hospital for autopsy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police investigation concludes that both suspects will be charged to court to face murder charges,\u2019\u2019 she said.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
