{"id":63358,"date":"2018-11-21T16:35:38","date_gmt":"2018-11-21T15:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=63358"},"modified":"2018-11-21T16:36:05","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T15:36:05","slug":"plans-to-impeach-saraki-still-alive-ndume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=63358","title":{"rendered":"Plans To Impeach Saraki Still Alive \u2014 Ndume"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-png view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Plans-To-Impeach-Saraki-Still-Alive-\u2014-Ndume.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has accused Senate President Bukola Saraki of personalising the chamber, and has said plans to impeach him are still alive.<\/p>\n<p>Ndume said at a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) forum in Abuja yesterday that he would not be bought over with his appointment as chairman of the Committee on Establishment and Public Service.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker from Borno is one of the All Progressives Congress lawmakers insisting that Saraki must vacate his seat following his defection from the party to the opposition People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n<p>He had a running battle with Saraki, following his supposed support for the Executive against decisions of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Ndume lost his seat as leader of the senate and was suspended for six legislative months but the courts later nullified the suspension and declared it illegal.<\/p>\n<p>He was also stripped of his position as Chairman of the Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n<p>Ndume said he regretted supporting Saraki to emerge as senate president and alleged that he (Saraki) is running the affairs of the senate like a private business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaraki is not supposed to give out committees because they do not belong to him. He has personalised the senate and he is becoming like the senators\u2019 president not senate president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Selection Committee is the one with the mandate to give out committees. The committees do not belong to Saraki,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker reiterated he would not be carried away by the position and stressed that it was not a big deal.
