{"id":62973,"date":"2018-11-20T11:31:28","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T10:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62973"},"modified":"2018-11-20T11:32:20","modified_gmt":"2018-11-20T10:32:20","slug":"police-arraign-8-suspected-cultists-in-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62973","title":{"rendered":"Police arraign 8 suspected cultists in Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/1528314949_Nigeria-Police-613x450.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">An Ogudu Magistrates\u2019 Court has arraigned eight suspected cultists terrorising members of the public in the Oke-Iranle area of Ajah, in Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the suspects were identified as, Olarigbe Olanrewaju, 22; Moses Ademola, 23; Evans Ezikiel, 20; Taiwo Oluwasegun, 19; Ganiyu Bashiru, 21; Wasiu Balogun, 29; Sunday Omete, 24; and Tunde James, 20.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 8 at Oke-Iranle area of Ajah, in Lagos, at about 11:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the eight accused, conspired with themselves as members of Eiye Confraternity and engaged in a fight with another group of unknown boys with dangerous weapons.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cSome members of the public also sustained serious injuries while some properties were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were arrested by a team of police men, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Langbasa Division, Ajah and transferred to the Anti- Cultism Unit, State CID, Yaba on Nov. 9\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 each by the Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje.<\/p>\n<p>The magistrate in her ruling ordered the accused to produce two sureties each in like sum.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the sureties were to show evidence of tax payments, to the Lagos State Government.<\/p>\n<p>The offences contravened Sections 42 (a), 51 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, (Revised).<\/p>\n<p>The case was adjourned until Dec. 18 for mention.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Ogudu Magistrates\u2019 Court has arraigned eight suspected cultists terrorising members of the public in the Oke-Iranle area of Ajah, in Lagos State.
