{"id":62661,"date":"2018-11-19T00:08:35","date_gmt":"2018-11-18T23:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62661"},"modified":"2018-11-19T00:09:38","modified_gmt":"2018-11-18T23:09:38","slug":"nominees-for-bbc-african-footballer-of-the-year-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62661","title":{"rendered":"Nominees for BBC African Footballer of the Year revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Nominees-for-BBC-African-Footballer-of-the-Year-revealed.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The nominees for the BBC\u2019s 2018 African Footballer of the Year have been announced.<\/p>\n<p>The shortlist which has been compiled by a panel of African football experts include: Medhi Benatia (Morocco), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal), Sadio Mane (Senegal), Thomas Partey (Ghana) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt).<\/p>\n<p>Voting opened at 7pm on Saturday 17 November and is set to close on Sunday 2 December, with the results due be announced on Friday 14 December at 17:30.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool and Egypt striker Salah was last year\u2019s winner, in a year that saw him make the switch from Serie A with Roma to the Premier League and lead his country to a first World Cup finals since 1990.<\/p>\n<p>The award\u2019s previous winners have included Nigeria\u2019s Jay-Jay Okocha, Ghana\u2019s Michael Essien, the Ivory Coast\u2019s Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure, and Algeria\u2019s Riyad Mahrez.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The nominees for the BBC\u2019s 2018 African Footballer of the Year have been announced.
