The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has spoken on the Kwara bye-election which held on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The contest was a straight battle between the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the People\u2019s Democratic Party, PDP<\/p>\n

The former Kwara governor, in his
\nreaction on Twitter, thanked the people of Ekiti\/Oke Ero\/Isin\/Irepodun who came out to vote.<\/p>\n

Saraki hailed them for defying the alleged intimidation and siege laid by security agents and thugs allegedly invited into the four LGAs by the APC.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe public should note that today\u2019s #KwaraByElection was simply between PDP and security agents plus APC. This was due to the heavy deployment of police, soldiers and other security agents who gathered to support APC and harass PDP leaders and supoorters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time that elections in Kwara State will be held under such charged, tensed and militarised conditions. We had INEC officials complaining about their own safety \u2014 and PDP supporters were brazenly intimidated, which resulted in low turn out of voters.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to reiterate that ahead of the 2019 elections, such open displays of intimidation are sending wrong signals.
