{"id":62028,"date":"2018-11-16T16:12:38","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T15:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62028"},"modified":"2018-11-16T16:11:04","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T15:11:04","slug":"court-sends-man-to-jail-for-raping-8-year-old-girl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=62028","title":{"rendered":"Court sends man to jail for raping 8-year-old girl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/court-1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">An Upper Area Court III, Kasuwan Nama in Jos, on Friday sentenced a 61-year-old businessman, Isaac Phillip for raping an eight-year-old girl.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Ibrahim Gukwat told the court that the case was reported by one Favour Emmanuel of Mado Tudun-Wada who is the victim\u2019s mother in Oct.9 and was transferred from \u201cA\u201d Divisional Headquarters Jos to Legal Department Jos for prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Gukwat said the accused lured the girl into his house and raped her.<\/p>\n<p>The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for leniency.<\/p>\n<p>Gukwat said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 283 of the Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>However, ruling, the judge, Yahaya Mohammed, sentenced Phillip, to three years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>According to NAN, Mohammed who did not give him an option to pay a fine, said it would serve as a deterrent to others who would want to indulge in such crime.<\/p>\n<p>He also ordered the convict to pay N20, 000 as compensation to the victim\u2019s family to enable them pay her hospital bills.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Upper Area Court III, Kasuwan Nama in Jos, on Friday sentenced a 61-year-old businessman, Isaac Phillip for raping an eight-year-old girl.
