Dachollom Datiri, while giving his welcome address at the Church’s 95th General Church Council meeting ongoing at its headquarters in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

Datiri said, “The Church in this country is under siege. Nigeria is adjudged as a country where Christians suffer persecution more than anywhere in the whole world and rightly so.

“A dangerous jihad has been launched against the Church and is rightly termed both conventional and stealth jihad.

According to him, “The sooner we realize this and take action the better.

“The stealth jihad can be seen also in the blatant refusal by most Northern State Governors to allocate land for Church buildings or grant titles for such lands”, he explained.

“We call on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to direct such State Governments to desist from this religious discrimination and bias.

“Another form of stealth jihad is not permitting the teaching of Christian Religious Knowledge in public schools in most Northern States. We call on the Federal Government to direct the Honourable Minister of Education to ensure it is allowed.

On the over 38, 000 Internally Displaced Persons in several camps, the Church called on both the Plateau State and Federal Governments to do the needful by directing NEMA to take prompt and appropriate action.

Speaking on Federal Government’s fight on corruption, the Church said it cannot associate itself with any fight against corruption that is biased.

“We call on the Federal Government to regain the confidence of Nigerians by being fair and just in this fight.

On Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls, COCIN condemned their continuous remain in captivity of Boko Haram, saying “no responsible government would allow this even for one day.

The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) on Tuesday raised the alarm that the Church in Nigeria is under siege, adding that a dangerous jihad has been launched against the Church and its both “conventional and stealth jihad”.
