{"id":60212,"date":"2018-11-10T15:47:11","date_gmt":"2018-11-10T14:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=60212"},"modified":"2018-11-10T15:44:56","modified_gmt":"2018-11-10T14:44:56","slug":"new-minimum-wage-umahi-reveals-what-will-make-governors-pay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=60212","title":{"rendered":"New minimum wage: Umahi reveals what will make governors pay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/dave-umahi.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has stated that review of the revenue sharing formula would enable states pay the new minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>Umahi spoke on Friday in Abakaliki at the opening of the 2018\/19 legal year of the Ebonyi judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>The governor likened the allocation accrued to states from the federation account as a \u2018sign wave\u2019 which made permutations difficult because it was not constant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe balance of justice is that the country\u2019s leaders should dialogue and allocate percentages to its various sectors which include workers\u2019 salaries, education, infrastructure, judiciary, legislature among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe burning issue currently in Nigeria is workers\u2019 welfare which every right thinking person will support and I have said severally that N30, 000 minimum wage is not even enough for workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my desire to improve on workers\u2019 welfare but something must be done at the centre so that the states can breathe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo clamp the nut on the petroleum subsidy episode, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) should be more transparent and accountable to the federation account,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that effective management of the nation\u2019s resources would enable the government adequately took care of workers\u2019 welfare and the three tiers of government.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has stated that review of the revenue sharing formula would enable states pay the new minimum wage.
