{"id":59280,"date":"2018-11-07T17:14:27","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T16:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=59280"},"modified":"2018-11-07T17:14:41","modified_gmt":"2018-11-07T16:14:41","slug":"businessman-jailed-two-years-for-stealing-bus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=59280","title":{"rendered":"Businessman jailed two years for stealing bus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"entry-thumb\" width=\"690\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Businessman-jailed-two-years-for-stealing-bus.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Nigerian Court\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">File Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court sitting in Giring Abattoir Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 29 \u2013year-old businessman, Ishaku Samuel, to two years imprisonment for stealing a Hummer bus.<\/p>\n<p>Magistrate Hanatu Gokwat, sentenced the accused after he pleaded guilty to theft and begged the court for leniency.<\/p>\n<p>Gokwat, in her ruling, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N2,000.<\/p>\n<p>She said the court was lenient with the convict because he readily owned up to the offence without wasting the time of the court.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the prosecutor, Karimu Bashiru told the court that the case was reported 0n Sept., 22 at the Anglo- Jos Police station by an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that , the accused entered the premises of one Gabriel Bethel and stole his hummer bus with registration Number ABE 921G Cross River.<\/p>\n<p>The convict pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2019I am sorry for what I did.
