{"id":57944,"date":"2018-11-03T00:33:09","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T23:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=57944"},"modified":"2018-11-03T00:33:43","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T23:33:43","slug":"2019-ive-been-fair-to-even-regions-that-didnt-vote-for-me-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=57944","title":{"rendered":"2019: I&#8217;ve been fair to even regions that didn&#8217;t vote for me &#8211; Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/President-Muhammadu-Buhari-1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, in Abuja said his administration has ensured even distribution of political appointments to reflect diverse interests across the country, regardless of the voting patterns of the 2015 presidential elections.<\/p>\n<p>Some regions in the country had alleged lopsidedness in Buhari\u2019s political appointment.<\/p>\n<p>But in a statement forwarded to DAILY POST by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, he maintained that he has been fair to all.<\/p>\n<p>Buhari spoke when he received delegation of Bassa Traditional Rulers and elites led by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bako Ebiredelu Dogwo at the Presidential Villa on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The President said the Nigerian constitution clearly maps out the need for representation in every government, and he had adhered strictly to the tenets of the law.<\/p>\n<p>President Buhari noted that Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, Labour and Employment, and Industry, Trade and Investment emerged from states that he did not record much votes in 2015, but they were given strong portfolios in the cabinet based on their competence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs humanly possible, I have tried to be fair to all. And I am very pleased that in spite of the complaints of technical marginalisation, you have agreed to vote for me in 2019,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>The President assured the delegation that he would look into the issue of poor representation of the Bassa people in government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for all the nice things you have said about me and the administration. I have taken note that you don\u2019t have leadership in any of the parastatals,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, the leader of the delegation said Bassa people had consistently voted for the President over the years, and \u201cwill do it again in 2019\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are a great asset to Nigeria. The Bassa nation will use all the resources available to us to ensure you are re-elected in 2019,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>The royal father said the President\u2019s effort at securing the country was commendable, urging him to also sustain the anti-corruption war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy with your administration, which is all inclusive without discrimination.
