{"id":57277,"date":"2018-10-31T23:43:20","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T22:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=57277"},"modified":"2018-10-31T23:43:40","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T22:43:40","slug":"ekiti-apc-condemns-lawmakers-killing-slams-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=57277","title":{"rendered":"Ekiti APC condemns lawmaker&#8217;s killing, slams PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/APC.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has condemned the killing of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in the House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Adedeji.<\/p>\n<p>Describing the killing as \u201cshocking, barbaric, sad and unfortunate,\u201d the party tasked security agencies to fish out Adedeji\u2019s killers and ensure that they were brought to justice.<\/p>\n<p>The party, however, condemned the claims of the state chapter of the PDP that cases of politically motivated killings had soared since the return of the Kayode Fayemi administration.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Wednesday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, the Ekiti APC said the Fayemi administration placed premium on protection of lives and property and will do everything possible to bring perpetrators to book.<\/p>\n<p>Ajayi, described the PDP\u2019s claim of resurgence of killings under Fayemi as \u201cirresponsible, fallacious and ill-informed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The APC spokesman said PDP was \u201cirresponsibly distorting facts and history\u201d maintaining that history had recorded many state-sponsored murders under the watch of former Governor Ayo Fayose.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe list is endless, including Dr Ayodeji Daramola and Tunde Omojola in 2006 while the murders of Kehinde Fasuba and Omolafe Aderiye were allegedly linked to the activities of armed gangs<br \/>\nallegedly working for PDP leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn December 2016 alone during Fayose\u2019s second term, three men were murdered within four days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Superintendent of Police (SP), Idowu Taiwo, was killed and abandoned in his car handcuffed after three gunmen abducted him at a relaxation joint along Ikere-Ado road in the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA day earlier, Kunle Enisan, an engineer, was abducted on his way home along Afao-Ado road, Ado-Ekiti. His dead body was found by the roadside, sparking anger and outrage that shook the state capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso a day after this incident, Wale Adeniyi, a graduate entrepreneur in Ikere-Ekiti, was foud dead along Iju-Ikere road after an encounter with gunmen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, the killings in the northern axis of the state around Oke-Ako were as a result of Fayose dismantling of a well-funded security system put in place in that area by Fayemi, resulting in herdsmen\u2019s threats that claimed the lives of some residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgain, Fayose refused to fund the multi-million naira Police Crime Detection\/Tracking Device facility inaugurated by Fayemi at the State Police Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, thus leading to a collapse of a security system that kept criminals at bay.\u201d\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has condemned the killing of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in the House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Adedeji.
