{"id":48252,"date":"2018-10-02T12:27:10","date_gmt":"2018-10-02T11:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=48252"},"modified":"2018-10-02T12:27:25","modified_gmt":"2018-10-02T11:27:25","slug":"nigeria-at-58-buhari-under-fire-over-uninspired-independent-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=48252","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria at 58: Buhari under fire over &#8216;uninspired&#8217; Independent speech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Buhari-sad.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari over his Independent Day broadcast.<\/p>\n<p>Frank said the broadcast failed to \u201cinspire and uplift the Nigerians spirits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frank, who recently dumped the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the speech did not only wasted precious time of Nigerians but a stale rhyme the ruling government has been singing over the three and half years in power.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement he personally signed and made available to DAILY POST, Frank noted that such Independent Day speech should have been soul lifting, \u201cset many in political bondage free and show a practical demonstration to the plights of Nigerian workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said instead, the reverse was the case, adding that, \u201cOne would have expected President Buhari to announce good news his government has recorded in education, health facility, Science and technology, respect for rule of law and good working relationship with Judiciary and legislature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Frank, the President would have made his, \u201cintention on the clamour for new minimum wage known to Nigerian workers; release the likes of El-zazzaki, Sambo Dasuki; and many others from political detention.<\/p>\n<p>Frank urged Nigerians to compare today\u2019s speech with the previous ones since Buhari became Nigeria\u2019s President if not the same rhythm as, \u201cI watched the President Buhari \u2018s #NigeriaAt58 address and wondered how our leader could be so divisive and uninspiring on a day like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the electoral process, the President spoke about, Frank wondered how, \u201cBoth local, international observers and other international communities would condemn the recent shame, called elections in Ekiti, Rivers and Osun but President Buhari did not see anything wrong in it because he is using the INEC to rig elections in his favour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bayelsa born politician expressed surprise that President Buhari failed in his address to speak about the current tag that Nigeria is now the capital of poverty in the whole world.<\/p>\n<p>He added that, \u201cThe country\u2019s GDP under President Buhari remains low due to lack of production and capacity of the current leadership while our population continues to rise astronomically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria\u2019s per capital income remains one of the lowest in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur country has been listed as having the highest number of poor people in the world under President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe painful implication is that Nigeria is today the capital of poverty in the world under the APC government.\u201d\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari over his Independent Day broadcast.
