{"id":474803,"date":"2022-12-07T19:35:03","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T18:35:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=474803"},"modified":"2022-12-07T19:35:41","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T18:35:41","slug":"uk-we-have-no-interest-in-who-becomes-nigerias-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=474803","title":{"rendered":"UK: \u2018We have no interest in who becomes Nigeria\u2019s president\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Kingdom (UK) government says it has no interest in who will become the next president of Nigeria during the forthcoming general elections.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed on Wednesday by Catriona Liang, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, following a meeting, held at a closed door, with the National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Liang said the UK would work with any candidates who emerge from the election.<\/p>\n<p>The High Commissioner also expressed confidence in Nigeria\u2019s democracy and the president\u2019s commitment to organising free and secure elections.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThe UK doesn\u2019t have a preferred candidate. We are committed to free and fair elections, but we will work with whoever the presidential candidate emerges from the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe UK and Nigeria have a very strong partnership, and we want Nigeria to succeed.
