At least 24 shops were burnt down in Bauchi fire incident at Muda Lawal Market, Bauchi metropolis.<\/p>\n
The Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Fire Service, Muhammad T Bature confirmed the incident on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He said that the incident happened on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
He added that Fire Service personnel mobilized to the scene with five fire fighting trucks.<\/p>\n
He said investigation was still on to ascertain the damages or loss incurred in the incident.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, traders alleged that black marketers operating at Muda Lawal Market, Bauchi, caused the inferno which razed down shops and part of Jummaat Mosque.<\/p>\n
The fire incident lasted for over one and half hour, before men of the Fire Service quenched it.<\/p>\n
One Aliyu Muhammed, a trader, said that the fire started in front of the black market dealers and escalated to nearby shops.<\/p>\n
He said that the fire destroyed goods worth millions of naira.<\/p>\n
