{"id":422948,"date":"2021-12-20T22:14:39","date_gmt":"2021-12-20T21:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=422948"},"modified":"2021-12-20T22:14:54","modified_gmt":"2021-12-20T21:14:54","slug":"armed-hoodlums-invade-obafemi-awolowo-university-barricade-road-over-land-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=422948","title":{"rendered":"Armed Hoodlums Invade Obafemi Awolowo University, Barricade Road Over Land Dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>No fewer than 50 hoodlums stormed Ile-Ife over land dispute issues with the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Osun State.<br \/>\nAccording to Daily Sun, the thugs armed with various weapons like guns, cutlasses, axes, among others, barricaded the road and caused chaos.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"http:\/\/arewa.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/Armed-Hoodlums-Invade-Obafemi-Awolowo-University-Barricade-Road-Over-Land.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The land on dispute allegedly belonged to the OAU but had been encroached on by some people.<br \/>\nThe land dispute between OAU and the indigenes of the ancient town has been ongoing for a long time.<br \/>\nIn times past, some of the aggrieved persons, claiming ownership of some portions of the university land, have at several times, invaded the university.<br \/>\nSome indigenes, who claimed their land was taken for the university when it was established in 1962, had been selling some portions of the land.<br \/>\nIn 2019, the Vice-Chancellor of the OAU, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede petitioned the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Abiodun Ige, urging the police to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.<br \/>\nThe Vice-Chancellor had also copied the Director of Department of State Services in Osun State, Brown Ekwoaba, stressing that the university would not engage in any illegal act on the issue.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>(SaharaReporters)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than 50 hoodlums stormed Ile-Ife over land dispute issues with the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Osun State.
