{"id":416242,"date":"2021-11-19T23:48:01","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T22:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=416242"},"modified":"2021-11-20T00:00:08","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T23:00:08","slug":"seven-girls-die-as-canoe-capsizes-in-jigawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=416242","title":{"rendered":"Seven girls die as canoe capsizes in Jigawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">No fewer than seven girls have died after their canoe capsized at Gasanya village in Kafin Kausa local Government Area of Jigawa State.<\/p>\n<p>A resident told DAILY POST that the incident happened on Friday when some girls numbering about ten boarded a boat to an unknown destination.<\/p>\n<p>He said in the process, the boat capsized and all of the occupants died and were evacuated.<\/p>\n<p>Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen.<\/p>\n<p>He said the incident occurred On 19\/11\/21 at about 0015hrs when the victims were said to be in a haste and anxiety to reach home, they, therefore, decided to paddle a canoe parked at River at Gasanya village by themselves in the absence of a craftsman.<\/p>\n<p>Shiisu said in the process the canoe capsized with girls numbering about ten, three were rescued while seven others died.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that all the girls, aged from 10, 11, and 12 years old respectively, came from Gafasa village through K\/Hausa LGA to Gasanya village in Auyo LGA for Maulud Celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Shiisu said the victims were evacuated and referred to General Hospital Kafin Hausa F.N.A where they were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No fewer than seven girls have died after their canoe capsized at Gasanya village in Kafin Kausa local Government Area of Jigawa State.
