{"id":404656,"date":"2021-10-14T18:48:47","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T17:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=404656"},"modified":"2021-10-14T18:49:16","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T17:49:16","slug":"busted-buhari-has-earmarked-n450million-for-rent-at-presidential-villa-in-seven-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=404656","title":{"rendered":"BUSTED: Buhari Has Earmarked N450million For Rent At Presidential Villa In Seven Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By 2022, the total money budgeted to be paid as rent for Aso Rock residential quarters by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government will be N448.34 million.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the 2022 Appropriation Bill submitted to a joint session of the National Assembly last week, N76.67 million was earmarked for the payment of \u201cAso Rock rent\u201d for the year.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2021\/10\/BUSTED-Buhari-Has-Earmarked-N450million-For-Rent-At-Presidential-Villa.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 2016, N27.73 million was budgeted as rent payment for State House. <\/p>\n<p>By 2017, it increased to N77.54 million.<\/p>\n<p>2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 budgets also showed N66.6 million each was earmarked for rent at the Presidential Villa. <\/p>\n<p>Aso Villa or Aso Rock Presidential Villa has been the workplace and official residence of the President of Nigeria since 1991 when the country\u2019s capital moved to Abuja from Lagos. <\/p>\n<p>Also known as State House, the Aso Villa is widely believed to be the most protected presidential state house in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>According to the 2020 budget, about N5, 231,101,743 was earmarked for general rehabilitation and repair of fixed assets in the Villa.<\/p>\n<p>A study of the proposal showed that rehabilitation\/repair of office buildings will gulp N5,176,045,297, while the residential building will take N55,056,446 out of the N150,590,609,934 expected to be spent by the Presidency.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>(SaharaReporters)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By 2022, the total money budgeted to be paid as rent for Aso Rock residential quarters by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government will be N448.34 million.
