{"id":396574,"date":"2021-09-23T19:52:10","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T18:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=396574"},"modified":"2021-09-23T19:59:28","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T18:59:28","slug":"suspected-armed-robber-dies-after-gun-duel-with-police-in-delta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=396574","title":{"rendered":"Suspected armed robber dies after gun duel with Police in Delta"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">A suspected armed robber has been reported dead after he sustained serious injuries during a gun duel with the Delta State Police Command\u2019s Rapid Response Squad, RRS at Umunede Community.<\/p>\n<p>Two other suspects escaped with bullet wounds.<\/p>\n<p>The Police also recovered a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge and two expended cartridges from the injured suspect, DAILY POST can report.<\/p>\n<p>The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Mohammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.<\/p>\n<p>He said the RRS on routine stop and search duty along the Benin\/Asaba express road in Umunede Community flagged down a Lexus 350 jeep with reg. No. WWR 343 MD, white in colour with three occupants.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Police image-maker, \u201cThe suspects on noticing the operatives, stopped abruptly, disembarked from the vehicle, shot sporadically and ran into the bush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operatives returned fire and went after them. During the gun duel, one of the hoodlums was fatally wounded while the remaining two escaped with bullets injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon search, a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge and two expended cartridges were recovered from the injured suspect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe injured suspect was immediately rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that \u201cThe Lexus 350 Jeep was retrieved. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>DSP Edafe said a manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A suspected armed robber has been reported dead after he sustained serious injuries during a gun duel with the Delta State Police Command\u2019s Rapid Response Squad, RRS at Umunede Community.
