{"id":394440,"date":"2021-09-16T18:12:17","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T17:12:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=394440"},"modified":"2021-09-16T18:12:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T17:12:45","slug":"gunmen-kill-imo-lawyer-handling-cases-of-violence-in-orlu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=394440","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen kill Imo lawyer handling cases of violence in Orlu"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">A lawyer based in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Darlington Odume, has been shot dead by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that Odume was shot dead by the hoodlums on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer popularly known as Omekagu was shot at a supermarket at Amaifeke in Orlu.<\/p>\n<p>The assailants stormed the supermarket at Umudara Amaifeke, Orlu on motorcycles and shot him on the chest and zoomed off.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST gathered that the slain lawyer was rushed to a hospital in the area but was rejected and referred to the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, died on the way to the teaching hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Our correspondent learnt that the slain lawyer had his chamber in Orlu town.<\/p>\n<p>He was handling some of the cases of those arrested in connection with the violence rocking the area.<\/p>\n<p>The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Michael Abattam when contacted confirmed the killing to our correspondent on the telephone.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cInvestigations are in top gear to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and to also apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly act \u201c<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lawyer based in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Darlington Odume, has been shot dead by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
