The organisation is on a United States terrorism list.<\/p>\n<p>Haqqani is wanted by the FBI for his role in suicide attacks and ties with Al Qaeda.<\/p>\n<p>Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, head of Taliban\u2019s political wing, is Akhund\u2019s deputy. The development came as a surprise.<\/p>\n<p>He was a close friend of late Omar, commanded attacks against U.S. forces and later negotiated America\u2019s withdrawal.<\/p>\n<p>Baradar was arrested, jailed in Pakistan in 2010, and became head of the fundamentalist group\u2019s political office in Doha after release in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesman Mujahid was silent on Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban supreme leader.
