{"id":390432,"date":"2021-09-03T16:40:40","date_gmt":"2021-09-03T15:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=390432"},"modified":"2021-09-03T17:11:54","modified_gmt":"2021-09-03T16:11:54","slug":"joint-security-team-kills-bandits-in-niger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=390432","title":{"rendered":"Joint security team kills bandits in Niger"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Scores armed bandits have been gunned down in Basa community of Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State.<\/p>\n<p>They were killed by a combined team of Joint Security Task Force in the early hours of yesterday in a gun battle.<\/p>\n<p>Though the actual figure of the casualties could not be ascertained, it was gathered that a total of 15 motorcycles were recovered from the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>Other items recovered from the bandits include food items.<\/p>\n<p>This was following a distress call by members of Basa community on the attack launched by the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST gathered the combined team of Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense and Corps (NSCDC); and vigilante members swung into action and met the bandits at Magami village, where they engaged them in a gun battle.<\/p>\n<p>Eyewitness account said the battle between the security team and the bandits lasted for hours, leaving many bandits dead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe joint security team pursued the bandits to Magami after rushing to Basa, where the distress call came from and discovered that they had fled to Magami.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bandits were about to cross the river when the security team arrived and engaged them in a battle that last several hours with a lot of casualties on the part of the bandits\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that the task force were acting on directive of the new Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, who during a visit to some camps declared total war against banditry, kidnapping and other criminalities in the state.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scores armed bandits have been gunned down in Basa community of Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State.
