{"id":386783,"date":"2021-08-23T09:08:10","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T08:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=386783"},"modified":"2021-08-23T10:15:19","modified_gmt":"2021-08-23T09:15:19","slug":"muric-warns-gov-lanlong-against-interference-in-trial-of-suspect-arrested-over-22-muslims-killed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=386783","title":{"rendered":"Muslim group cautions Lanlong against interference in trial of suspects nabbed over 22 Muslims killed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has said Governor Simon Lalong\u2019s apology over 22 Muslim travellers recently killed in his state will be accepted so long as he allows a free and fair trial of the 23 suspects arrested in connection with the killing.<br \/>\nRecall that 22 Muslims were killed on August 14, 2021, by hoodlums along Plateau State.<br \/>\nThe killings were condenmed by Nigerians, including the Governor of People state, Governor Simon<br \/>\nLalong.<br \/>\nThe Governor further apologised to the people of Ondo state over the incident.<br \/>\nMURIC in a statement by its Director on Monday, Professor Ishaq Akintola urged the Governor to extend his apology to the government and people of Bauchi State and Nigerian Muslims in general.<br \/>\nHe said these are the people whose sensibilities have been most hurt by the senseless attack and they needed assurances that it will not be repeated.<br \/>\n\u201cA special delegation to Bauchi to condole with Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi whose members were brutally murdered will not be out of place,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nAccording to him,<br \/>\n\u201cMURIC joins Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi in demanding compensation for the victims\u2019 families.
