{"id":379386,"date":"2021-07-31T21:08:49","date_gmt":"2021-07-31T20:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=379386"},"modified":"2021-07-31T21:53:26","modified_gmt":"2021-07-31T20:53:26","slug":"tokyo-olympics-nigerias-adegoke-beats-world-fastest-man-in-100m-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=379386","title":{"rendered":"Tokyo Olympics: Nigeria\u2019s Adegoke beats world fastest man in 100m heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Nigeria\u2019s Enoch Adegoke on Saturday beat the fastest man in the world this year and seventh fastest of all-time, USA\u2019s Trayvon Brommel, in the men\u2019s 100 metres event at the ongoing 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Adegoke ran 9.98 seconds in the men\u2019s 100 metres to beat Brommel, who tops the pre-Games world list with the 9.77 seconds he ran last month in Florida, USA and qualify for Sunday\u2019s semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old sprint star who ran on lane 6 of heat 2 at the Olympic Stadium in the event\u2019s first round beat Femi Ogunode, who represented Qatar and came in at 10.02.<\/p>\n<p>He is now joined in the semi-finals by compatriot Usheoritse Itsekiri who ran 10.15 seconds to place third in heat 1.<\/p>\n<p>Adegoke will compete in the second semi-final, while Itsekiri will appear in Sunday\u2019s first semi-final.<\/p>\n<p>Their teammate, Divine Oduduru, was, however, disqualified for false starting in heat 5.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nigeria\u2019s Enoch Adegoke on Saturday beat the fastest man in the world this year and seventh fastest of all-time, USA\u2019s Trayvon Brommel, in the men\u2019s 100 metres event at the ongoing 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
