{"id":365236,"date":"2021-06-18T17:13:55","date_gmt":"2021-06-18T16:13:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=365236"},"modified":"2021-06-18T17:14:35","modified_gmt":"2021-06-18T16:14:35","slug":"kebbi-attack-army-confirms-death-of-student-free-7-mates-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=365236","title":{"rendered":"Kebbi attack: Army confirms death of student, free 7 mates, teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of a student of the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi.<br \/>\nIn a statement, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations said so far, two teachers and five students have been freed.<br \/>\nThe rescue followed an encounter with the abductors in the early hours of Friday.<br \/>\nAbducted Kebbi student shot dead<br \/>\nNwachukwu said troops trailed them from Yauri through Riyao to Sombo community, where the kidnappers had split into two groups.<br \/>\nOne conveyed the abducted students, while the other conveyed rustled cattle.<br \/>\nGround forces and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) intercepted the groups at about 2.30 am and engaged them in a fire.<br \/>\nThe battle led to the release of the teachers and students as well as the recovery of 800 cattle rustled by the bandits.<br \/>\nKebbi abduction: We are in hot pursuit of bandits \u2013 Police<br \/>\n\u201cThe gallant troops are still on the heels of the kidnappers in order to rescue the remaining abductees still in captivity.<br \/>\n\u201cSadly, a casualty was recorded during the exchange.
