{"id":354723,"date":"2021-05-21T09:28:05","date_gmt":"2021-05-21T08:28:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=354723"},"modified":"2021-05-21T09:28:21","modified_gmt":"2021-05-21T08:28:21","slug":"biden-reacts-to-gaza-ceasefire-agreement-between-israel-hamas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=354723","title":{"rendered":"Biden reacts to Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel, Hamas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has commended the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>Biden made this known in a statement released by the White House in Washington, while reacting to Israel and Hamas agreement on a ceasefire proposal by Egypt which is to take effect early Friday in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>The President, however, emphasised that the U.S. will continue to support Israel militarily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States fully supports Israel\u2019s right to defend itself against indiscriminate rocket attacks by Hamas and other Gaza-based terrorist groups that have taken the lives of innocent civilians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese hostilities have resulted in tragic deaths of so many civilians, including children, and I send my sincere condolences to all the families, Israeli and Palestinian, who have lost loved ones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. leader further thanked the Egyptians for their role in brokering the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>He also assured that the U.S. would work with the UN and other international organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe the Palestinians and Israelis equally deserve to live safely and to enjoy equal measures of freedom and democracy,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has commended the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
