{"id":354105,"date":"2021-05-19T21:22:46","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T20:22:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=354105"},"modified":"2021-05-19T21:24:28","modified_gmt":"2021-05-19T20:24:28","slug":"governor-makindes-aide-lambasts-el-rufai-for-sacking-without-due-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=354105","title":{"rendered":"Governor Makinde&#8217;s Aide Lambasts El-Rufai For &#8216;Sacking Without Due Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Labour Affairs, Comrade Bayo Titilola Sodo has said it is wrong for the Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to sack thousands of workers in the state.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>El-Rufai had proposed to sack thousands of workers in the state, a situation that has led to a five-day industrial strike and protests by workers.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2021\/05\/Governor-Makindes-Aide-Lambasts-El-Rufai-For-Sacking-Without-Due-Process.jpeg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe Kaduna State governor on Tuesday also announced the sacking of nurses and lecturers who joined in the strike action. <\/p>\n<p>But Sodo, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Oyo State, told journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday that it was wrong for El-Rufai to sack workers without due process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am with NLC, you cannot just wake up one day and say that you are sacking the workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is about the government. It is not about El-Rufai and sons. It is the Kaduna State government. Due process must be followed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see myself as a representative of labour in the government of Governor Seyi Makinde. I see myself as the ears and eyes of the labour. I take responsibility for whatever mistake the governor may have made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sodo also disclosed that Oyo State Government pays N30,500 minimum wage to its workers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome wrongly dismissed workers have been reinstated back to the service.
