{"id":350108,"date":"2021-05-10T10:14:54","date_gmt":"2021-05-10T09:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=350108"},"modified":"2021-05-10T10:14:59","modified_gmt":"2021-05-10T09:14:59","slug":"troops-kill-5-bandits-rescue-18-kidnap-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=350108","title":{"rendered":"Troops kill 5 bandits, rescue 18 kidnap victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Nigerian Army, on Monday, said 18 kidnap victims have been rescued by troops of 8 divisions, deployed for clearance Operations against armed bandits in Zamfara State.<\/p>\n<p>A statement signed by Brig General Mohammed Yerima, Director, Army Public Relations said the troops killed 5 Bandits\u2019 Commanders and neutralized 48 others in separate gun battles under \u2018Operation Mutane\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to Yerima, the Division had earlier launched Operation Tsare Mutane following the directives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe General Officer Commanding (GOC) the Division, Maj Gen Usman Yusuf launched the first phase of Operation Tsare Mutane which lasted from 23 March to 2 April 2021 in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe troops successfully cleared many bandits\u2019 camps in Jaya, Kadaya, and Bayan Ruwa amongst several others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe troops successfully neutralized 48 bandits while the bandit\u2019s leader in the area, Jummo sustained gunshot wound to his leg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe troops rescued 18 kidnap victims from the bandits\u2019 enclave.
