{"id":339918,"date":"2021-04-15T09:58:21","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T08:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=339918"},"modified":"2021-04-15T10:15:37","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T09:15:37","slug":"champions-league-what-ferdinand-mcmanaman-said-about-zidane-as-real-madrid-eliminates-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=339918","title":{"rendered":"Champions League: What Ferdinand, McManaman said about Zidane as Real Madrid eliminates Liverpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Former Premier League stars, Rio Ferdinand and Steve McManaman, have lauded Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane\u2019s work at the Los Blancos after they eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Ferdinand described Zidane as \u2018phenomenal\u2019, while McManaman said the Frenchman is a \u2018tactician\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Zidane\u2019s men eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League on a 3-1 aggregate after playing a 0-0 draw in the second-leg at Anfield last night.<\/p>\n<p>Zidane took charge of Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018 before returning for a second spell \u2013 and has already steered them to 11 trophies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis guy [Zidane] has an unbelievable knack,\u201d Ferdinand told BT Sport. \u201cHe\u2019s not been around that long and has done it in a short space of time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s come in and just hoovered up trophy after trophy, the big ones. Three Champions League trophies as a manager? It\u2019s phenomenal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t have much to say, he never had much to say as a player. He let his football do the talking. He\u2019s very much the same in management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe hasn\u2019t got a lot to say, he\u2019s not prickly with anyone really. He\u2019s very much about getting the job done, and he does it immaculately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe just gets to a final, and he just understands how to win. That\u2019s a unique position to be in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his part, McManaman said, \u201cHe\u2019s done an incredible job. If it was any other manager, we\u2019d be falling over ourselves, applauding these people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that he\u2019s so cool, the fact he doesn\u2019t want plaudits, the fact he\u2019s nice and relaxed, people don\u2019t think he\u2019s a tactician, but actually he is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe does his homework, he knows how to play. They knew where Liverpool\u2019s weaknesses were. He\u2019s great at his job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe deserves more credit, and he certainly deserves more credit from the Spanish press.
