{"id":334301,"date":"2021-04-01T10:57:44","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T09:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=334301"},"modified":"2021-04-01T12:55:58","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T11:55:58","slug":"breaking-nigerian-alpha-jet-goes-missing-during-boko-haram-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=334301","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Nigerian Alpha Jet Goes Missing During Boko Haram Operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>A Nigerian Air Force Alpha-Jet has gone missing during an air interdiction mission in battle with Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State in the North-East.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nSaharaReporters learnt that the fighter jet went missing on Wednesday around 5pm, amidst fears that it might have been captured or shot down by the Boko Haram terrorists \u2013 who are now being aided by a more deadly faction, the Islamic State West African Province fighters.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2021\/04\/BREAKING-Nigerian-Alpha-Jet-Goes-Missing-During-Boko-Haram-Operation.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe Nigerian Air Force in a release confirmed the missing Alpha Jet, noting that the details of the whereabouts of the aircraft were still sketchy.<br \/>\nThe NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said, \u201cA NAF Alpha-Jet has lost contact with radar in Borno State, while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops.<br \/>\nThe mission was part of the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East. The loss of radar contact occurred at about 5:08 pm on 31 March 2021.<br \/>\n\u201cDetails of the whereabouts of the aircraft or likely cause of contact loss are still sketchy but will be relayed to the general public as soon as they become clear.
