{"id":333027,"date":"2021-03-29T09:43:17","date_gmt":"2021-03-29T08:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=333027"},"modified":"2021-03-29T09:43:41","modified_gmt":"2021-03-29T08:43:41","slug":"atiku-part-of-nigerias-rot-presidency-replies-ex-vp-over-unemployment-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=333027","title":{"rendered":"Atiku part of Nigeria&#8217;s rot &#8211; Presidency replies ex-VP over unemployment comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Presidency has said Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was part of the rot Nigeria has become.<\/p>\n<p>President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said Atiku cannot \u201cexculpate\u201d himself from the rot in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Adesina was reacting to Atiku\u2019s remark on the Bloomberg report that Nigeria may become the country with the highest unemployment rate in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The former Vice President had called on relevant stakeholders to help Buhari\u2019s administration to resolve the unemployment rate in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku had said the involvement of stakeholders in the country\u2019s unemployment crisis would help save the masses.<\/p>\n<p>However, Adesina stressed that the figures recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, on unemployment was not new.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on Channels Television programme, Adesina wondered what Atiku and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo did to improve the country when in power.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cYou will recall that in the build-up to the 2015 elections, when the APC (All Progressives Congress) was campaigning, the figure that was used by then candidate Buhari was that a minimum of 30 million Nigerians were unemployed, particularly youths, and that his government was going to do something about it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was in 2014\/2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, don\u2019t make it appear like a genie that just came out of the bottle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, it had always been there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt had always been there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former Vice-President was in power for eight years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, he is in the opposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t take whatever he says as the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is when former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was in government with President Olusegun Obasanjo, where did they take the country?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere did they leave the country?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former Vice-President is part of the rot this country became.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe cannot exculpate himself.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Presidency has said Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was part of the rot Nigeria has become.
