{"id":325349,"date":"2021-03-10T18:14:13","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T17:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=325349"},"modified":"2021-03-10T18:14:38","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T17:14:38","slug":"robinho-gets-9-year-jail-term-over-role-in-gang-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=325349","title":{"rendered":"Robinho gets 9-year jail term over role in gang rape"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Former Manchester City and Real Madrid star, Robinho, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his role in a gang rape in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian was accused of raping a woman in her 20s at an Italian nightclub eight years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old was originally found guilty in 2017 before he was sentenced in December of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Robinho chose to appeal the verdict, which has now been upheld in Milan\u2019s Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to Globo, new details have since emerged in the Court of Appeal, alleging that the former AC Milan star and his representatives \u2018attempted to deceive investigators\u2019 by providing different accounts on \u2018previously agreed facts\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Court of Appeal added that the footballer \u2018belittled\u2019 and \u2018brutally humiliated\u2019 the woman.<\/p>\n<p>Robinho\u2019s team now has only one final chance to overturn their client\u2019s guilty verdict.<\/p>\n<p>The forward has 45 days to lodge a further appeal with the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Robinho\u2019s contract with Santos had been suspended prior to the recent appeal hearing outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Santos president, Orlando Rollo, confirmed recently that Robinho would be sacked if the verdict is upheld.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Manchester City and Real Madrid star, Robinho, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his role in a gang rape in 2013.
