{"id":317340,"date":"2021-02-18T21:03:48","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T20:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=317340"},"modified":"2021-02-18T21:04:22","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T20:04:22","slug":"breaking-it-will-take-20-years-to-address-insecurity-in-nigeria-buratai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=317340","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: It Will Take 20 Years To Address Insecurity In Nigeria\u2014 Buratai"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The Immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has told the Senate that it will take Nigeria the next 20 years to address the security challenges confronting the country at the moment.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nSpeaking on Thursday when he appeared before the Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa-led Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening as an Ambassadorial Nominee, Buratai said that it will take 20 years to address this insecurity.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2021\/02\/BREAKING-It-Will-Take-20-Years-To-Address-Insecurity-In.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nAccording to Vanguard, Buratai noted that the intelligence capacity of the army was initially low, but now in a first-class state.<br \/>\nSpeaking further, Buratai who noted that the warfare has permeated the society, said that they have won the communities to their side, adding that it requires a multi-pronged approach with military warfare as only one aspect.<br \/>\nHe said, &#8220;The military alone cannot solve this. There should be hospitals, schools, roads and government presence in these communities. There are so many ungovernable spaces and until these spaces have government presence, it will not be resolved.\u201d<br \/>\nThe former Service Chiefs who were appointed ambassador designates have appeared for the screening which is still on going.<br \/>\nThey are retired Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin, former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, former Navy Chief, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas and former Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has told the Senate that it will take Nigeria the next 20 years to address the security challenges confronting the country at the moment.
