{"id":308317,"date":"2021-01-26T20:53:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-26T19:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=308317"},"modified":"2021-01-27T07:32:41","modified_gmt":"2021-01-27T06:32:41","slug":"bandits-selling-kidnapped-victims-to-boko-haram-sources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=308317","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Selling Kidnapped Victims To Boko Haram \u2013 Sources"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Bandits operating in the North-West and North Central now sell some of their kidnapped victims to the Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram, Jama\u2019atu Ahlussunnah Lidda\u2019awati Wal Jihad, multiple security sources have told SaharaReporters.<br \/>\n<span class=\"container container-pod container-pod-short\"><span class=\"adunit-parent hide block-module block-module-ad block-module-ad-300x250\"><span class=\"block-module-image-wrapper\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nFor more than six years, the two regions have faced devastating attacks from armed bandits, particularly in the states of Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa and Sokoto.<br \/>\n<span class=\"ds-1col file file-image file-image-png view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"block-story-object-asset\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"media-element file-embedded\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" src=\"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/storage\/2021\/01\/Bandits-Selling-Kidnapped-Victims-To-Boko-Haram-\u2013-Sources.png\" alt=\"\"><\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n\u201cThey (armed bandits) are now selling some of their victims to Boko Haram. Over 100 people were recently sold by the bandits to Shekau\u2019s group.<br \/>\n\u201cContrary to what Governor Abdullahi Sule said that there were Boko Haram members in Nasarawa State during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, what we have in the state are normal bandits who have links with the terrorists.<br \/>\n\u201cThey (bandits) don\u2019t believe in the Boko Haram\u2019s ideologies; they have nothing to do with Sharia law. They only kidnap for ransom and those whose family can\u2019t meet up with their demands are sold to Shekau\u2019s faction,\u201d a Major in the Nigerian Army told SaharaReporters.<br \/>\nBoko Haram had in June 2020 released a video confirming its link with armed groups operating in the North-West and North Central part of the country.<br \/>\nThe video, which runs for six minutes and five seconds, showed fully armed fighters speaking Hausa, English and Kanuri.<br \/>\n\u201cSpecial greetings from your jihadi brethren in the Lake Chad Basin. Greetings to our leader Abu Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Abubakar Asshakawy,\u201d a member of the sect said.<br \/>\n\u201cMy second message is for all of the Mujahideen, especially those close to us. We send you Islamic greetings.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cMy other message is for all the unbelievers in the world. Repent, you still have time. And if you don\u2019t, wait and see what will happen to you very soon,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cMy message to Kuffar (unbelievers). O\u2019Kuffar, you have time to repent to Allah before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta\u2019ala punishes you with our hands,\u201d the English speaker warned.<br \/>\n\u201cSoon you will see what is happening in your marketplaces. Soon you\u2019ll see what is happening in your offices.<br \/>\n\u201cSoon you\u2019ll see what is happening in your homes. Anywhere you are, soon you\u2019ll see what is happening.\u201d<br \/>\nTwo months after, the group released another video where its members gathered in an open field said to be located in Niger State to celebrate Eid el Kabir, a Muslim festival.<br \/>\nThe footage also showed about three fighters sending Eid greetings in Hausa, English and Fulfulde to viewers.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is we the Jamahatu Ali Sunna li Dawatul Jihad in the location of Niger State. We want to send our Sallah salutation, first of all to our imam, Abu Muhammad Ibn Abubakar Shekau,\u201d one of the terrorists dressed in a Nigerian police uniform said.<br \/>\nProfessor Johnson Fatokun, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Anchor University, Lagos who was recently kidnapped in Keffi, Nasarawa State said his abductors threatened to transfer him to Boko Haram terrorists.<br \/>\nNarrating his ordeal, Fatokun said together with other motorists, he had driven past police and military checkpoints when he encountered the gunmen, who were in military camouflage.<br \/>\nHe said, \u201cThey asked everybody to come out and lie down. They requested my gun and I told them I did not have any. They searched everywhere and saw my ID card. They also took my ATM cards. They took me through the bush and asked, \u2018Do you know what just happened to you?\u2019 They said I had been kidnapped. They assigned some men to me.<br \/>\n\u201cThey went to somebody\u2019s farm and harvested yam. They asked me if I would eat, but I declined. We slept in the open till around 5\/6am then continued the trek to the mountainous part of the forest.<br \/>\n\u201cThey switched on my phone anytime they wanted to continue negotiation with the pastor.
