{"id":303584,"date":"2021-01-14T17:29:53","date_gmt":"2021-01-14T16:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=303584"},"modified":"2021-01-14T17:41:41","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T16:41:41","slug":"former-senator-obi-is-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=303584","title":{"rendered":"Former Senator Obi is dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Senator, Onyeabo Obi is dead.<br \/>\nHe passed away at the age of 82.<br \/>\nHis brother, Zik Obi wrote, confirmed the passing in a statement.<br \/>\n\u201cI wish to personally inform members of Otu Oka Iwu that my eldest brother and past President of Otu Oka Iwu and Bencher, Senator Onyeabo Obi, Os\u2019oji Nnewi, passed on to greater glory.\u201d<br \/>\nHe added that due to the COVID-19 safety protocols, \u201cphysical condolence visits are not necessary or encouraged\u201d.<br \/>\nObi was an international business lawyer.<br \/>\nHe served on the Advisory Committee on Rules of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.<br \/>\nBorn November 20, 1938 in Ogidi, Anambra State, Obi attended St Cyprian\u2019s School, Port Harcourt (1943-50), and Hope Waddell Training Institution, Calabar (1951-55).<br \/>\nHe studied at North-Western Polytechnic, London (1958-59), and later London School of Economics and Political Science (1959-62).<br \/>\nThe deceased was Director, Nigerian Rubber Board (1977-1979), and a Senator (1979-1983).<br \/>\nFormer Senator Obi is dead<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A former Senator, Onyeabo Obi is dead.
