Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has publicly backed Karim Benzema, with the striker set to stand trial on the charge of conspiracy to attempt blackmail.
\nVersailles prosecutor\u2019s office is accusing Benzema of having pressured his former France teammate Mathieu Valbuena in 2015, to pay blackmailers who threatened to reveal a sex tape in which Valbuena appeared.
\n\u201cHe [Benzema] has my complete support. I know it\u2019s not an easy situation. The important thing is what I see and he is well.
\n\u201cThese are difficult situations, and we want it to be resolved as soon as possible,\u201d Zidane told a press conference.
\nNo date has been set for the trial.
\nBenzema has not played for France since October 2015 after being suspended by the French Football Federation (FFF) over his alleged involvement in the incident.
