(FRSC) Lagos Sector Command has banned the use of phones by motorists while driving.<\/p>\n<p>Olusegun Ogungbemide, FRSC Sector Commander, in a statement on Sunday, said the corps had noticed a rising disregard of traffic and safety regulations.<\/p>\n<p>He listed other infractions as internet surfing, non-use of a seatbelt, rickety vehicles that are not roadworthy, lane shunting and general irresponsible driving culture.<\/p>\n<p>The commander reiterated the National Road Traffic Regulations 2012 section 166 (1) on the use of communication devices while driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo driver of a vehicle shall whilst the vehicle is in motion receive or makes a telephone call in any form. We have lost so many drivers and other innocent people due to distraction from the use of phones caused them while on the road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeace-loving, responsible Lagosians and road users are also passing through a lot of pains due to the actions of these few who will not obey simple regulations to keep themselves alive\u201d, the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>Ogungbemide said the FSRC command cannot watch and allow illegality to strive.<\/p>\n<p>The official added that all commands of the corps have been given the mandate to tackle all forms of road misconduct.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Commission.
