{"id":289431,"date":"2020-12-05T14:03:22","date_gmt":"2020-12-05T13:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=289431"},"modified":"2020-12-05T14:06:06","modified_gmt":"2020-12-05T13:06:06","slug":"police-arrest-student-over-alleged-killing-of-benue-varsity-professor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=289431","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest student over alleged killing of Benue varsity professor"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Police Command in Benue says it has arrested Mr Jeremiah Nnamdi, a student of Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) over the alleged killing of an associate professor at the institution, Karl Kwaghger.<br \/>\nThis was contained in a statement on Saturday by the Command\u2019s spokesperson, DSP Catherine Anene.<br \/>\nRecall that the University don was killed on Nov. 28 at the Tarka Foundation, Gboko, where he had gone for relaxation.<br \/>\nThe police said the suspect, who hails from Imo State was arrested in Abuja while trying to sell a car belonging to the deceased.<br \/>\n\u201cSwiftly, police detectives were deployed to the scene where they met the victim brutally stabbed on his ribs and a cut on his neck.<br \/>\n\u201cThe victim was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital where he was confirmed dead and was deposited at the morgue.<br \/>\n\u201cDuring the investigation, one Jeremiah Nnamdi of Umigwe village, Imo State, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi was arrested in Abuja where he went to sell the car of the deceased.\u201d<br \/>\nAccording to the police, the suspect has already confessed to the crime, and further investigation is ongoing.<br \/>\n\u201cThe suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that his initial intention was to threaten the victim with a make-believe gun and rob the deceased of his car.<br \/>\n\u201cBut he ended up killing him because of his resistance and took the car away,\u201d the police added.\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Police Command in Benue says it has arrested Mr Jeremiah Nnamdi, a student of Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi (FUAM) over the alleged killing of an associate professor at the institution, Karl Kwaghger.
