{"id":268107,"date":"2020-10-10T11:20:53","date_gmt":"2020-10-10T10:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=268107"},"modified":"2020-10-10T11:23:52","modified_gmt":"2020-10-10T10:23:52","slug":"nigeria-vs-algeria-reactions-trail-super-eagles-1-0-friendly-defeat-against-afcon-holders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=268107","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria vs Algeria: Reactions trail Super Eagles\u2019 1-0 friendly defeat against AFCON holders"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Some Nigerian football supporters have expressed disappointment over the National team\u2019s performance against the Desert Foxes of Algeria in an international friendly which the Super Eagles lost 1-0 on Friday in Austria.<\/p>\n<p>The match served as a warm up game for both teams as they prepare for next year\u2019s AFCON qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p>Ramy Bensebaini netted the only goal of the encounter in the 6th minute.<\/p>\n<p>After the match, fans took to their Twitter accounts to share their thoughts about the game.<\/p>\n<p>A sport journalist with the BBC, Debola Adebanjo, said, \u201cAlgeria\u2019s organization cannot go unnoticed, better shape of the ball and understood how Nigeria wanted to play through the wings and blocked them everytime; ruining Nigeria\u2019s rhythm at every opportunity. Algeria are the team to beat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another supporter, Peter Nwosu, said, \u201cEagles definitely deserved to lose, maybe even by more goal margins. In Maduka Okoye, though, it does seem like we might have found ourselves a good goalkeeper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his part, James Iloba said, \u201cWatching the Nigerian team play was like watching some high school boys hurriedly put together to play a set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPass back all the time and not an iota of excitement, they did not play like a Nigerian team today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>May Johnson said, \u201cIf we had the chance to ask Super Eagles players individually if the game plan was to break down the Algerian defense then you would understand where the problem is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was no actual tactical plan to break down the defense.
