{"id":260125,"date":"2020-09-19T09:23:12","date_gmt":"2020-09-19T08:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=260125"},"modified":"2020-09-19T09:25:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-19T08:25:00","slug":"edo-elections-pdp-governors-vow-not-to-leave-benin-city-amid-alleged-police-intimidation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=260125","title":{"rendered":"Edo elections: PDP Governors vow not to leave Benin City amid alleged police intimidation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have vowed not to leave Edo State amid alleged police intimidation.<\/p>\n<p>During an emergency press conference in Abuja on Saturday, the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, accused security agencies of harassing and threatening the lives of its Governors who had gathered in Benin City, the state capital, ahead of Saturday\u2019s poll.<\/p>\n<p>This comes amid claims from Akawor Desmond, the party\u2019s chairman in Rivers State, that over 300 policemen laid siege to the hotel where Governor Nyesom Wike was staying.<\/p>\n<p>Secondus, expressed shock that, \u201csecurity agents were detailed to surround the lodging of our governors to harass and intimidate them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He questioned why APC governors, \u201cincluding the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje; his Imo State counterpart, Hope Uzodima as well as the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, are left free in the comfort of the GRA, Benin residence of Comrade Oshiomhole.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP insisted that, \u201cthere cannot be two set of laws for the citizens of our nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInasmuch as the APC governors are given liberty to stay in Benin City, our governors will not allow themselves to be harassed or stampeded to leave the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(DailyPost)<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have vowed not to leave Edo State amid alleged police intimidation.
