{"id":222580,"date":"2020-06-02T11:16:06","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T10:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=222580"},"modified":"2020-06-02T11:43:21","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T10:43:21","slug":"akwa-ibom-elders-blow-hot-accuse-buhari-govt-of-corruption-nepotist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=222580","title":{"rendered":"Akwa Ibom Elders blow hot, accuse Buhari govt of corruption, nepotist"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Akwa Ibom leaders, under the umbrella body of Akwa Ibom Leaders Vanguard, on Monday blasted President Muhammadu Buhari over alleged perceived corruption, nepotism and frequent abuse of constitution in his government.<br \/>\nThe elders said the country was on the verge of disintegration and anarchy due to lopsided political appointments which favoured only the Northern section of the country.<br \/>\nIn a statement signed by the coordinator, Senator Anietie Okon and made available to DAILY POST, the elders expressed dismay over the poor handling of FG\u2019s palliatives and urged the National Assembly to investigate the process, especially the ones allegedly sent down to the South-South.<br \/>\nThe group also noted that the hyped school feeding programme of the FG when Children are at home due to Covid-19 pandemic was a heartless rape of the nation\u2019s resources<br \/>\nThe Statement reads in parts, \u201cThe National Assembly should carefully investigate the handling of the COVID-19 palliatives by the aides of the President for Akwa Ibom State and other States where the supposed funds and other palliative meant for the poor and vulnerable disappeared on transit.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are sincerely concerned over the over hyped ongoing school feeding programme by the Incumbent administration when the pupils are still on forced break owing to the menace of the COVID-19 pandemic<br \/>\n\u201cWe found this claim repulsive, extremely fraudulent and heartless raping of the nation\u2019s scarce resources.\u201d<br \/>\nThe group alleged that the Federal Government was shrouded with opacity, adding that the inability of the government to account for the millions of dollars of Abacha loot repatriated into the country, was an indication that the administration was neck deep in corruption.<br \/>\nThey said the President should as a matter of urgency forestall the rising angst among Nigerians by discontinuing the pursuit of sectional agenda in appointments into public offices, alleging that the incumbent administration had carefully and consciously concentrated the entire leadership of Nigeria\u2019s security architecture on only the Northern section of the country to the detriment of the entire Southern region.<br \/>\nThey further said the Federal Government should as a matter of<br \/>\njustice and equity accord adequate recognition to Akwa Ibom owing to its enormous contribution to the National treasury, by appointing her sons\/daughters into the NNPC management and board and its other major subsidiaries, including other major public offices.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Akwa Ibom leaders, under the umbrella body of Akwa Ibom Leaders Vanguard, on Monday blasted President Muhammadu Buhari over alleged perceived corruption, nepotism and frequent abuse of constitution in his government.
