{"id":216466,"date":"2020-05-05T08:50:38","date_gmt":"2020-05-05T07:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=216466"},"modified":"2020-05-05T08:51:53","modified_gmt":"2020-05-05T07:51:53","slug":"coronavirus-fg-clears-air-on-cause-of-mysterious-deaths-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=216466","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus: FG clears air on cause of mysterious deaths in Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The team leader of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr. Nasiru Gwarzo, has debunked media reports attributing the mysterious deaths in Kano State to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Gwarzo told BBC Hausa on Monday that he was only misquoted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than 80 per cent of what I said was on the collection of samples from people and how the disease affects individuals and not on the issue of the mysterious deaths,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Gwarzo further clarified that investigations were ongoing and nothing had been confirmed yet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have so far done a lot but are still working; we have trained personnel and have sent them to cemeteries,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, admitted that his committee had identified the causes of some of the deaths to be the COVID-19, as the dead had shown symptoms associated with the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>As at Monday night, Kano state has the second-highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases with 342 patients.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The team leader of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr. Nasiru Gwarzo, has debunked media reports attributing the mysterious deaths in Kano State to COVID-19.
