{"id":213537,"date":"2020-04-25T22:03:40","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T21:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=213537"},"modified":"2020-04-25T22:04:01","modified_gmt":"2020-04-25T21:04:01","slug":"covid-19-kills-top-nigerian-banker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=213537","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 kills top Nigerian banker"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">A Regional Manager with a first generation bank in Kano State has reportedly died of suspected COVID -19 complications.<\/p>\n<p>The Nation, in its report, withheld the name of the financial institution.<\/p>\n<p>It quoted family sources as saying that the late banker fell ill on Friday and was first admitted at a private clinic.<\/p>\n<p>He was later referred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased in his early 50s, was rushed to a private clinic after he suffered high fever, cough and respiratory hiccups without getting medical care.<\/p>\n<p>He was placed on oxygen on arrival at the private clinic and the treatment was discontinued after he displayed no signs of stability.<\/p>\n<p>One Hajiya Salma Ahmed, a mother- in-law of the deceased, in a viral audio, recounted how the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) frustrated attempts to secure a helpline.<\/p>\n<p>She disclosed that \u201cthe family had called the \u201cKano NCDC\u201d line several times but couldn\u2019t get through.<\/p>\n<p>They finally got to \u201cAbuja NCDC\u201d and were assured that officials in Kano would visit the patient to take his samples.<\/p>\n<p>Adding that \u201cone visited up till my son-in-law died in agony\u201d, Ahmed raised fears about the COVID-19 status of her daughter and other family members.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Regional Manager with a first generation bank in Kano State has reportedly died of suspected COVID -19 complications.
