{"id":208870,"date":"2020-04-10T21:05:11","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T20:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=208870"},"modified":"2020-04-10T21:05:56","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T20:05:56","slug":"coronavirus-atiku-calls-for-review-of-nigerian-doctors-hazard-allowance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=208870","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus: Atiku calls for review of Nigerian Doctors\u2019 hazard allowance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has called for a review of hazard allowance for healthcare workers in the country as Nigeria continues to fight coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Atiku, on his Twitter page said a review of hazard allowance was necessary at a time when the health workers were battling in the frontline to fight against COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>His tweet read: \u201cHaving acknowledged that healthcare workers in the frontline of the war against #COVID19 are our true heroes, a review that will enhance their hazard allowance should be given immediate consideration. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>His call might not be unconnected to a statement by the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, admitting that he had no knowledge if doctors and other health practitioners tackling COVID-19 were paid hazard allowances.<\/p>\n<p>Ehanire, who met with the National Assembly leadership in Abuja on Thursday, claimed that what the doctors are doing is routine.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, had asked the minister on Thursday if the health workers handling Coronavirus cases were paid any hazard allowance.<\/p>\n<p>But, Ehanire responding said: \u201cI am not aware of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the standard job they do every day.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has called for a review of hazard allowance for healthcare workers in the country as Nigeria continues to fight coronavirus.
