{"id":208689,"date":"2020-04-10T09:08:08","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T08:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=208689"},"modified":"2020-04-10T09:08:43","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T08:08:43","slug":"coronavirus-testing-centre-established-in-kano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=208689","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus testing centre established in Kano"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has established a Coronavirus testing center in Kano.<\/p>\n<p>The State Deputy Governor, Nasiru Gawuna, who confirmed this said, \u201cfrom now, all samples of suspected cases of COVID-19 will not be taken to Abuja for testing but treated in Kano.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gawuna, who is also the Chairman of the State Task Force Committee on COVID-19, disclosed this when he paid an inspection visit to the COVID-19 test centre set up by the NCDC at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are on a fact finding mission; from what we have seen in the laboratory, installation of equipment is complete and test running has been made,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed the appreciation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje\u2019s administration to the Federal Government for setting up the COVID-19 test centre in Kano, saying other neighbouring States can also bring their samples for testing in the centre.<\/p>\n<p>While conducting the Deputy Governor round the test centre, a Laboratory Scientist with the NCDC, Abdulmajid Musa, said they have installed the platform approved by the NCDC which could test any sample for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, they have also started training professionals from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Kano State Government on how to operate the equipment.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has established a Coronavirus testing center in Kano.
