{"id":201664,"date":"2020-03-15T13:19:37","date_gmt":"2020-03-15T12:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=201664"},"modified":"2020-03-15T13:20:01","modified_gmt":"2020-03-15T12:20:01","slug":"2023-el-rufai-using-dethroned-emir-to-push-presidential-ambition-jonathans-ex-aide-omokri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arewa.ng\/?p=201664","title":{"rendered":"2023: El-Rufai using dethroned Emir to push presidential ambition &#8211; Jonathan&#8217;s ex-aide, Omokri"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday disclosed that Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State was using the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi to push his presidential ambition.<\/p>\n<p>Omokri explained that El-Rufai\u2019s recent show of affection towards Sanusi during his banishment to Nasarawa State was a \u201cstrategy\u201d for his 2023 presidential ambition.<\/p>\n<p>In a tweet, the former presidential aide insisted that the North will reject Sanusi as its preferred Presidential candidate in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the Kano State Government had dethroned Sanusi as Emir over insubordination.<\/p>\n<p>Following his dethronement, the former CBN governor was banished to Awe area of Nasarawa State where his movement was restricted.<\/p>\n<p>However, an Abuja Federal High Court had on Friday ordered the immediate release of Sanusi.<\/p>\n<p>Against this backdrop,El-Rufai had visited the dethroned Emir and took him out of the town to Abuja where he subsequently bordered a flight to Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Omokri said El-Rufai leveraged on Sanusi\u2019s predicament to power his presidential ambition.<\/p>\n<p>In a tweet, the former presidential wrote: \u201cThose claiming Sanusi was deposed to pave way for him to run are naive.
